The good thing about dental crowns is that they are very durable. Still, you are not going to get a life-time deal out of them, especially the way we constantly punish our teeth. When we grind our teeth at night, or even chew on gum, the crowns have a life expectancy of about five years. It doesn't mean that your crowns will break and fracture as soon as they hit five years. Their condition will rest with your overall dental hygiene. It depends on your oral care and eating habits. When you feel that your crown's time is up, be on the lookout. Come straight to our Chagrin Falls dental crown clinic as fast as you can if your crown is giving you trouble. Chagrin Falls dentist Fotolia_6417528_XS.jpg

But don't panic. Just because you have a problem, it doesn't mean we have to pull out your old crown and give you a new one. There is no reason why we cannot repair the Chagrin Falls dental crown if the damage is not too serious, especially if the break hasn't reached the tooth root. Or if no more than half of the dental crown is involved. However, sometimes there can be extensive damage. If so, we will be forced to give you a completely new crown.

Some crowns are made of porcelain. Others are an amalgam of porcelain and metal. If yours is one of these, we would recommend bonding as the most suitable solution. Bonding is used to repair small chips and fractures. During the bonding procedure, we use a drill to buzz over the broken sections of the crown. This makes the surface rough enough in order for the composite bonding adhesive to stay on the affected area.

After this, I coat the newly sandpapered dental crown surface using a special liquid. This acts like a catalyst and assists the composite matter to lock on to the porcelain of the crown.

After that, I would scrutinize the color of your crown to confirm that the crown doesn't look any different to your other teeth. They should all have the same whiteness. The next stage is to put in the resin. I would take my time shaping the material so that it has the correct proportions. Then, it is wrapped up before I take out my really cool laser gun, which I use to complete the process.

Going over it again, you know that you need to spend some time with us for the whole procedure. The stages are planned out. You should factor in the intricacies of what has happened to you and what will happen. The whole thing comes together quite sweetly and you end up with a crown that will give you plenty more years.
