When you have a dental crown placement, you may feel very sensitive right afterward. This could be that your tooth is feeling the effect of all that enamel I took out of it.

In giving you a new dental crown, I am forced to get rid of a lot of enamel. In fact, it may feel as if none of the enamel is left. There will be an increase in sensitivity to friction, pressure and temperature changes. Hence there is the tingling feeling you get when you receive your new dental crown. This shouldn't last longer than two days, though.

Maybe the size of the crown is all wrong in terms of height. This means that the dental technician has erred in following my specifications. In order to correct the situation, I have two choices. The first one is to fix it myself by cutting the crown to the required height. We can do this, or order another crown from the technician.

Sometimes, the crown may be a bad fit overall. Possibly the crown's inner part, which is hollow, is too deep or too shallow. The crown's diameter may also be wrong. If so, it wouldn't fit on the stump of your tooth root that was made.

If we have a gold dental crown or a gold-porcelain hybrid, it makes the whole corrective process a lot easier. A characteristic of gold is that it is relatively soft. We can shape it easily so you can expect us to fix it fast. By using 100 percent porcelain dental crowns, though, it is a completely different matter for the dental technician when it comes to making the alterations.
